Artillery Ammuntion:

105mm Advanced Cannon
Artillery Ammunition Program (ACA2P)

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems and Denel are teamed to bring the United States the most advanced non-developmental artillery ammunition suite available in the world today. The 105mm family offers a full spectrum of ballistically matched effects with demonstrated interoperability. The 105mm family includes a Pre-Formed Fragmentation warhead with lethality equivalent to 155mm ammunition. With field interchangeability between a Boat Tail and a Base Bleed, the 105mm ammunition suite offers range and accuracy unmatched in current inventory. Our ACA2P artillery ammunition suite expands the lethality, accuracy and range capabilities of our legacy forces and will fulfill requirements of the Objective Force.

105mm PGU 45/B

The 105mm PGU 45/B is a high lethality version of the 105mm employing HF1 steel material. The PGU version of the 105mm has a lethal fragmentation area 25% greater than the M1 shell and a 50% and 75% increased effectiveness against light material targets and personnel, respectively.

This ammunition is employed on the US Special Forces MC-130H Combat Talon and AC-130H Spooky aircraft. These aircraft carry 105mm cannons mounted on the left side and are utilized in close ground support roles to infiltrate, re-supply, and exfiltrate special operations forces..

155mm M864 DPICM

The M864 is an extended range projectile loaded with a total of 72 dual-purpose submunition grenades. The total payload comprises 48 M42 grenades and 24 M46 grenades; the difference being that the body wall of the M42 is embossed while the M46 is smooth. Each type shaped charge grenade is capable of penetrating more than 100mm (4 inches) of RHAP armor. The submunition grenades are expelled from the rear of the projectile 300-400 meters above the target. The expulsion charge is fitted in the ogive of the projectile and is initiated by a standard-type mechanical or electronic time fuze. Extended range capability is provided both by the streamlined shape of the projectile and by a base bleed propellant grain located in the aft end of the projectile.

155mm M107

The M107 is one of, if not the most widely used of all United States artillery projectiles and still one of the 'NATO standard' projectiles by which all others are measured - the M107, a multi-purpose HE projectile used for blast effect and fragmentation, is one of our finest products.

The 155mm M107 is a separately loaded munition. The shell is hollow forged of AISI 1045 steel and is a conventional design with a streamlined ogive and a boat tail base to provide aerodynamic efficiency.

A swaged gilding metal drive band encircles the shell casing near the base and is protected by a grommet during storage, transport, and handling. A threaded lifting plug occupies the fuse-well during transit and handling. The plug can be replaced before firing by a wide range of standard and commercial fuses .

155mm M110A2

The M110A2 is a 155mm Smoke projectile used to provide screening or marking smoke. There is a secondary incendiary effect. The M110A2 has the same general appearance as the M107 and have the same design origin.

It is a separate loading munition using a hollow forged steel shell. The shape is ogival with a boat tail for aerodynamic efficiency and a welded steel baseplate. Close to the base is a gilding metal drive band protected by a grommet until jut before loading .

155mm M483

The 155mm M483A1 DPICM is an early technology cargo round. It delivers 88 dual-purpose grenades to defeat armor and personnel targets.

The M483A1 is a separate loading munition constructed of either 1340 or 4190 alloy steel, an aluminum ogive and a short hollow boat tailed aluminum plug. A metal rotating band and a plastic obturating band are located close to the base of the projectile .

155mm M795

The M795 is a 155mm HE projectile that has longer range and greater efficiency than the M107. It is used for conventional fire support for harassment and interdiction fires, fragmentation, mining and blast effect.

The M795 is made of high fragmentation (HF1) steel and uses a welded rather than a swaged rotating band that encircles the body close to the base. For storage and transport, an energy absorbing lift plug is threaded into the nose cavity. .

155mm M804A1

The M804A1 155mm Training Round is the training version of the M107. This is a hollow forged steel shell having ballistic similitude to the M107 and containing a small smoke canister in the fuse-well to provide flash and smoke on impact.

155mm M898

The 155mm M898 Sense and Destroy Armor Munition (SADARM) is designed for top attack of armor by indirect fire. The primary intended use of SADARM is as a counter-battery system. It combines millimeter wave, infrared and signal processing technologies.

Each round contains two payload sub-munition packages. The sub-munitions are ejected from the projectile base by expulsion charges. Once clear of the projectile body, onboard sensors search the ground underneath for targets. Once a target is acquired, the sensor will determine the center of the target and the explosive will penetrate the armor vehicle’s relatively vulnerable top. Maximum lethal range is approximately 150 meters. The SADARM has demonstrated the ability in tests to destroy two armor vehicles with one projectilet.

155mm M915

The M915/916 cartridge pair provides dual-purpose improved conventional munition capability at extended ranges for 105mm howitzers. The M916 is the short-range version of the round. The M915 can only be fired from the M119 howitzer system.

Both rounds are semi-fixed and the steel cargo projectile carries 42 M80 sub-munitions. The projectile contents are dispersed in the usual manner under the control of a nose-mounted electronic time self-destruct fuse (M234). The rounds both require the M217E1 cartridge caset
