FALLS CHURCH, Va. - February 21, 2001. The Department of the Army - Headquarters, Operations System Command, Rock Island, IL has awarded a $3.2 million contract add-on to General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD). The contract calls for the production of 305,200 rounds of the 20mm PGU-27A/B Target Practice (TP) Cartridge and 76,300 rounds of the 20mm PGU-30A/B Target Practice-Tracer (TP-T) Cartridge into a Linked AA27 Configuration. Work will be performed at the company’s Marion, Ill. facility.
The PGU-27A/B and 30A/B AA27 ammunition is used by the U.S. Navy/Marine Corps in the AH-1 Cobra Helicopter. The 20mm PGU-27A/B and PGU-30A/B, developed by GD-OTS under contract from the U.S. Navy, represent the most advanced family of 20mm ammunition. This family of ammunition is also used in the F-14, F-15, F-16 and F/A-18 fixed wing aircraft.
