General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems has been the leading supplier of gun barrels to the U.S. Department of Defense for over 50 years. Our success is based on experience, innovation and application of the latest manufacturing technologies.
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems has produced over 1.5 million gun barrels to date. Designs produced include mono-block and lined, constant and gain-twist rifling, as well as nitrided and chrome-plated bore surfaces. We have extensive experience with a wide variety of gun barrel and liner materials including MIL SPEC steels, cobalt-chromium alloy liner, CG27 and ceramics. Our barrels are used on a variety of U.S. fighter aircraft including the A-10, F-14, F-15, F-16, F/A-18 and F/A-22.
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems maintains an active independent research and development program. Our engineers apply a multi-disciplinary approach to investigate innovative gun barrel design and manufacturing techniques. The benefits resulting from this program are passed directly on to our customers in the form of improved performance and reduced costs.
