20mm – 30mm Gatling Gun Systems

20MM GATLING GUN SYSTEMS
20mm – F-15E Gatling Gun System
The 20mm F-15E Gatling Gun System is a lightweight linear linkless ammunition feed system, which offers configuration flexibility and improved ammunition packaging efficiency. These features provide additional space for other aircraft equipment.
The lightweight linear ammunition feed system provides high reliability and maximum round capacity for aircraft’s allotted space envelope. The F-15E feed system is fully compatible with all M-50 series and the improved PGU-28/B ammunition, as well as our M61A2 gun.
20mm – F-16E Gatling Gun System
The 20mm F-16 Gatling Gun System is a fixed-forward firing system that provides maximum lethality against air-to-air and air-to-surface targets.
The weapon system features the M61A1 six-barrel Gatling gun and a linkless ammunition feed system. The M61A1 provides up to 10 times the reliability of single-barrel guns, firing at 6,000 shots per minute and placing a controlled dispersion of projectiles in the path of the target. The double-ended linkless ammunition feed system incorporates a compact lightweight composite rotary ammunition drum to store unfired and fired ammunition.
20mm – FA-18 Gatling Gun System
The 20mm FA-18 Gatling Gun system operates on the same proven principles that other General Dynamics 20mm Gatling gun systems use providing a wide array of extremely reliable features for positive round control throughout ammunition storage and the transfer cycle. The F/A-18 E/F uses special materials and processes that yield extended life and reduced wear of the precision-engineered sprockets, guides, ammo drum and round paths. It also features proven gear box designs that provide reliable, precise and efficient power transfer.
20mm – F-22A Gatling Gun System
The 20mm F-22A armament system features the lightweight M61A2 20mm Gatling gun and linear linkless ammunition feed system. The M61A2 provides up to 10 times the reliability of single-barrel guns, firing at 6,000 shots per minute and placing a controlled dispersion of projectiles in the path of the target.
The linear linkless ammunition feed system features state-of-the-art composite and unique gun-feed technologies to provide high reliability at minimum weight. General Dynamics ammunition storage and handling systems have been used in all modern U.S. front-line fighter aircraft.
20mm – M61A1/M61A2 Gatling Gun
The 20mm M61A1 and M61A2 is an externally powered six-barrel gatling gun systems that offers lightweight, highly lethal combat support for a variety of air, land and sea platforms.
The M61A1 and M61A2 increases multiple-hit probabilities when compared to single barrel guns operating at lower rates of fire. The M61A1 and M61A2 weapons are based on the proven Gatling principle of operation and provide reliability up to 10 times greater than single-barrel guns. The M61A2 shares the same features as the M61A1, but is 20 percent lighter. The M61A2 will meet or exceed the M61A1 gun’s reliability, maintainability and supportability features.
20mm – M-197 Gatling Gun
The 20mm M-197 Gatling Gun is a lightweight, three-barrel version of the M61A1 Gatling gun intended for applications that require a lightweight, highly reliable weapon capable of firing up to 1,500 shots per minute.
The gun is specifically designed for helicopters, light fixed-wing aircraft and small naval attack vessels. It is adaptable for turret, pod, pintle or internal installations using either linked or linkless ammunition feed systems. Currently, the M-197 arms the Marine Corps AH-1J, AH-1T, AH-1W and AH-1Z. The M-197 is also used in the GPU-2/A 20mm gun pod.
20mm – XM301 Lightweight Gatling
The 20mm XM301 is the lightest 20mm Gatling gun in the world. It features firing rates of 750 and 1,500 shots per minute, making it the ideal product for platforms that require air-to-air and air-to-ground lethality in a lightweight package. The XM301 fires at twice the rate of a single-barrel gun of similar caliber and weight. When combined with high accuracy and an optimum dispersion pattern, the rate of fire provides superior precision-kill capability. The XM301 is also rugged enough to withstand long burst lengths without damage.
20mm – KF-21 Gatling Gun System
The KF-21 armament system features the lightweight M61A2 20mm Gatling gun and linear link less ammunition feed system. The M61A2 provides up to 10 times the reliability of single-barrel guns, firing at 6,000 shots per minute and placing a controlled dispersion of projectiles in the path of the target.
The linear link less ammunition feed system features state of- the-art composite and unique gun-feed technologies to provide high reliability at minimum weight. General Dynamics ammunition storage and handling systems have been used in all modern U.S. front-line fighter aircraft.
25MM GATLING GUN SYSTEMS
25mm – GAU-12/U Gatling Gun
The 25mm GAU-12/U Gatling Gun is an externally powered gatling gun adaptable for air, land and sea platforms. The GAU-12/U has significant muzzle energy and combat lethality. These factors, when combined with a maximum firing rate of 4,200 shots per minute, provide an effective weapon for a variety of combat missions.
Each of the GAU-12/U’s five barrels contain its own breech bolt assembly, which fires once per gun revolution. This ensures extended barrel life by distributing firing loads over all five barrels. Continuous rotary motion reduces impact loads on gun components, providing extended parts life and high reliability.
25mm – GAU-22/A Gatling Gun
The 25mm GAU-22/A Gatling Gun is an externally powered Gatling gun selected for installation in the F-35 Lightning II fighter. The GAU-22/A was developed for both the internal and external F-35 gun systems. This four-barrel gun is a derivative of the highly successful five-barrel, 25mm GAU-12/U gun.
Each of the four gun barrels has a breech bolt assembly that fires once per gun revolution. This ensures long barrel and breech life by distributing the heat and firing forces over all four barrels and breech positions. Continuous rotary motion reduces the impact loads on gun components, extending parts life and resulting in extremely high gun reliability.
30MM GATLING GUN SYSTEMS
30mm – GPU-5/A Gatling Gun Pod
The 30mm GPU-5/A Gatling gun pod incorporates the four-barrel 30mm GAU-13/A Gatling gun and linear linkless ammunition feed system. The GPU-5/A is the world’s only 30mm gun pod that fires armor-piercing GAU-8/A ammunition. This ammunition offers up to four times the kinetic energy at twice the range compared to conventional 20mm or Aden 30mm rounds. It is capable of stopping amphibious vehicle assaults and destroying a wide range of armored mobile and fixed targets at extended ranges.
The GPU-5/A can be installed on the wing or body centerline stations of a variety of tactical aircraft. It has low recoil loads, is lightweight and contains its own power. It has been flown and tested on A-4, A-7, F-4, F-5, F-15 and F-16 aircraft. The GPU-5/A pod can be mounted onto standard 30-inch aircraft racks in less than ten minutes.
30mm – GAU-8/A Gatling Gun
The 30mm GAU-8/A Gatling gun is used on the U.S. Air Force’s A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft and the Navy’s Goalkeeper Close-In Weapon System. The GAU-8/A provides a reliable, high-rate-of-fire, combat-proven weapon for close air support and shipboard defense missions.

Continuous rotary motion reduces impact loads on gun components, leading to long parts life and high reliability.
